Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of College Education Behind Bars Second Campus at DAPECOL

This past Monday, July 15, the greatly anticipated opening of the College Education Behind Bars at the Davao Prison was held in conjunction with the graduation of our first six students who have been taking classes taught by Davao Del Norte State College faculty under an tin awning. Your sacrifice of prayer and contributions helped complete, furnish, and air condition the new facility, funded by the Philippine Dangerous Drug Board (DBB), the cabinet office over the others. After Dr. Aland Mizell  welcome and opening remarks,

Justice Marquez Commends First Batch of Graduates of Davao Prison and Penal Farm’s College Education Behind Bars greeted the high level dignitaries in attendance, and the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Dr. De Vera, brought the commencement address. Photos of the event are on the minoritycareinternational.org website under “Latest News.” To date 88 students have graduated from the college classes, first at the Davao City Jail and now at the Davao Prison. Approximately 157 students from both campuses have enrolled for the fall. You may also go to the webpage of the Supreme Court of the Philippines(sc.judiciary.gov.ph) for Associate Justice Marquez’s commendation of the students and program at the ceremony.
