Dr. Aland Mizell is the founder and President of the College Education Behind Bars , which provides the opportunity for PDLs men and women to earn a four year College degree while serving their sentences. Over a decade, Dr Mizell has led the expansion of College Education behind Bars within two campuses in Jails/ prison campuses in Davao City . More than 23 universities benchmarking to replicate college education behind throughout nationwide . Dr. Mizell has become a leading advocate for the national restoration of college-in-prison and frequently speaks publicly in a variety of forums about the College Education Behind Bars SETBI model in education and criminal justice policy. He is a co-founder of the Alliance of higher education in south East Asia, and Minority Care international MCI , which is supporting other colleges and universities in establishing and maintaining ambitious college-in-prison projects around the country.

TRAILBLAZER FACTS: Dr. Mizell started the SETBI College Education Behind Bars , it has grown to be the largest and first program of its kind in Asia and Philippines . The program currently enrolls almost 275 PDLs men and women full time with the college. More than 100 Students are graduated from SETBI College Education Behind Bars. Launched with seventeen students a decade ago, the program has awarded nearly 100 students diploma and Bachelor science in ITC and BS in Agri business from USeP . he is regular contributors of Mindanao Times and other media outlets .
