The Social Entrepreneurship Technology and Business Institute (SETBI) was conferred a Special Award by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office XI during its 35th Anniversary Celebration held on September 9, 2026, at the Sotogrande Hotel in Davao City.The prestigious recognition honors SETBI’s pioneering and sustained contribution to College Education Behind Bars (CEBB) and its more than 10 years of partnership with 
BJMP XI in advancing education, rehabilitation, and reintegration opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).Through its College Education Behind Bars Program, SETBI has pioneered the delivery of four-year college degree programs inside correctional facilities, together with Senior High School education and recovery and rehabilitation programs. SETBI’s initiatives have demonstrated that access to quality education can provide PDLs with meaningful opportunities for personal transformation, academic achievement, and preparation for successful reentry into society.
The award also recognizes SETBI’s commitment to the welfare, holistic development, dignity, and social rehabilitation of Persons Deprived of Liberty in correctional facilities across the Davao Region.
For more than a decade, SETBI and BJMP XI have sustained a partnership built on a shared commitment to education, transformation, rehabilitation, and second chances. This collaboration reflects the belief that correctional facilities can become places where individuals are given opportunities to learn, grow, recover, and prepare for a productive life beyond incarceration.
